shit happens. seriously.

As much as we would like to think we are in control of our own lives, we're just not. There is some outside force controlling every existence of our being. It could be karma, or even plain ole' luck. But I believe it's [God]. He seems to have a hold on his children guiding and directing us ways we never thought we'd go. The paths He takes us down may not be the ones we would have chosen for ourselves. However, it always seems to have the best outcome. When we take control of our lives, our time, and our destiny... it fails. Sometimes, this outside force throws us curve balls. It comes our way and knocks us on our rump so fast we don't even realize it until we're staring at the ceiling with no strength to get upright. Face it, SHIT HAPPENS.

I'm not sure if it's acceptable to have a "favorite" book of the Bible since they are all so important, but I do. Isaiah. The scriptures speak to me so strongly, and comfort me so deeply. As a goal this summer, I'd encourage whoever is reading this to really study Isaiah. Just sit down and allow the Lord to speak.

Isaiah 41:10- Don't be afraid, for I am with you.Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

I HAVE to remember that through whatever it is life throws my way, God is in control. During the good times and the bad, there is no reason to worry, be scared, or try and fix it. We cannot fix our problems. God can. As cliche as it may sound, it is important to ask ourselves what would Jesus do? But seriously... God allowed Jesus to go through hard times, and just as He did, we are to respond with faith

It will be hard, but I can do it. It's not fun, that it takes an unfortunate situation to make me realize that my priories are mixed up. As much as I don't enjoy being tested, I must remember that it's all getting me closer to God. Relying on something outside of ourselves requires so much faith. Something, I have very little of. But ya know, when I look back at events in my own life, or lives of those fella's in the Bible, it was that
{mustard-seed-size-faith} that opened a door for God to enter and do marvelous things.

There is beauty in every ugly situation. There will be good that comes from the bad. God, will bless unexpectedly and exponentially. We just have to ready our hearts.

So when unexpected trials come your(my) way, remember that God is knocking at your door; asking for you to let Him in. OPEN THE DOOR. HAVE FAITH. Face it head-on. Through the good and the bad, God is in control [whether we like it or not]. Sure, we're gonna mess up, we're gonna go through STUFF, but when we allow God to be the captain of our team, WE WIN!!

Romans 8:28- And we know that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

sister date

So my adventure is starting. Since I can't ride the bus into the city EVERY DAY I needed something to do on a day to day basis. So I joined a gym, not sure how well working out all the time is going to go but I have discovered a new love: YOGA. So good for the body, mind, and soul. It's just great to have an hour every day where I can relax my muscles. They do such a good job so why not give them a little enhancing. Other than the yoga I've been having some super bonding time with sister. She is such a gem! Today we had a little date. Went to a movie, did some shopping, and then out to dinner for some good ole' burgers&fries :) yummy! I truly love this child and without her, family time would definitely not be the same.

onto the next

It's been exactly a month since my last post...well maybe not EXACTLY if you're taking time into consideration. So a lot can really happen in a month. With school getting really heavy over the past couple weeks I'm quite relieved that it's summer. I can't even believe I finished a year of college... Never thought THAT day would come! Before I get started on my mini-summer adventure in D.C. I'd like to reflect on some of the wonderful/unexpected experiences I had over my Freshman year.

too much cant stop

I recently expanded my personal networking websites by adding a Twitter AND a Tumblr to my facebook and this blog... I think it was too much. But I really just can't stop. Now I can spend and extra two hours on the internet "creeping" and "tweeting" and "blogging" and "tumbling". As much as I hate to say it I think I'm addicted... Haha all of these websites are just so fabulous! But precaution must be taken. With facebook we get a clear look into the window of others lives. Of course this can cause MAJOR problems. People only post the good. Only allowing tagged pictures that make them look their best, writing on the wall's of people they hardly know pretending like they are just BFF'S! Tweeting what we do at every moment of everyday like someone cares(which sadly we are beginning to). Blogging about our personal lives and allowing people into our heads likes it wont affect us.

and yes, i am so guilty.

WHY in the world do we do this? As much as I so want to deactivate my facebook day in and day out I just can't bring myself to do it.

It's because we feel like we don't exist in the world if we don't exist on facebook. we think people(boys) will contact us via facebook and we'll miss it when honestly, how many times does this actually happen? The reality of it all is quite sad. Ridiculous really.

I want to go back in time. I want to go back to the days where men had to ride their horses to your house that was miles down the road if they wanted to see you. I want only my closest friends to know about my life and I want people to ask me IN PERSON to get lunch sometime.

Our world is becoming so technologically dependent and I'm not saying their aren't benefits, I'm just saying we need more balance. I'm determined to have my cake and eat it too. So we'll see...But in the mean time I'll keep facebooking, tweeting, tumbling, and blogging. Because everyone else is doing it, right?

the city

one of the things i LOOOVE about living in D.C. is the amazing little places to visit that are like no where else, especially Alabama. Over spring break we took a few days here and there and drove a few(or more) miles into Georgetown. Of course the university campus is B-E-A-UTIFUL and would only be realistic in my dreams, i still very much enjoyed walking up and down main street playing pretend as Blair Waldorf with my sister, aka Serena Van Der Woodsen!

along our adventure we found adorable clothing boutiques and little french bakery's. but the favoritest of favorite places we found was Sprinkles.

YUMMY YUMMY YUMMY

new soul

So I guess it's been almost a month since my last post. As much as I thought about it everyday and wanted to get on and post, I just had nothing to say. This past month has been one of the most extraordinary growing periods that I've encountered over the past eighteen years. Feelings were hurt, emotions were felt, minds were changed, relationships were broken, relationships were mended, hearts were touched and lives were restored. Although the difficult times are not the happiest, they allow for an opening in our souls for God to enter and take over. As much as we try and try to do things ourselves, there's really no ultimate joy and peace that can be found until we let His love control our every existence. So try new things, experience for yourself what is true and understand that life is a journey. the little things will shape you into the person you are destined to be. we are new souls, we're searching, and luckily, our journey ends with happiness in the arms of God.

This is my song for my life right now...
of course it changes like every month but I'll enjoy it until a new one comes along.
